The photo you see me playing with a Lubitel 166B from my dad. Thats how it all started for me. A Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex, a Praktica MTL3 and MTL5 were the toys i played with back in the days next to my lego offcourse! The Lubitel and the MTL3 stand on my desk as a reminder of that good old days.
The Praktica MTL5 was the first camera i learned to shoot film with and as a little boy i carried it around to the photography/darkroom worshop for kids and later school. I was hooked and when i had to make my choice for high school it became one with specific graphic subjects like graphic design, screen printing and photography offcourse. In that time i broke my MLT5 after it crashed into the ground. Till to this day i never broke one of my camera’s again luckily.
My dad and i turned over our bathroom in a darkroom a couple of times a year and we spent hours in there. Later we donated all the equipment to my school for use with the photography lessons. A few years ago i volunteered at a photography museum and i managed to get a lot of the same kind of equipment back. When my former photography teacher heard about this he offered me a box full of equipment and i’m still thankfull for that. I still love to work in the darkroom but i don’t do it as much as i would like to.
